Richard Avedon

Richard Avedon (May 15, 1923 - October 1, 2004) was an American Photographer. In New York City, he set up his own studio and began providing photos for Vogue and Life Magazine. Avedon did not conform to the standard technique of fashion photographs. He did not like it when the models just stood there emotionless in front of the camera. Instead, he showed a full scale of emotion; smiling, laughing, crying and even action. He was always interested in capturing the "personality and soul" of the subject.
