Adam Kimmel Fall 2010

Designer Adam Kimmel who views his clothing line and the presentation of it as an event more than just a temporary collection, enlisted painter George Condo to make masks for his runway and print campaign for Kimmel's Fall 2010 line. Condo summers in Monte Carlo and gambles at The Ritz and is clearly inspired by the one and only 007. These photographs are scary, amusing and fascinating and all so Bond.

When Hirst met LV

Art and fashion motivate each other in the marketplace continually. In todays economic climate as both artists and high end luxury brands struggle to find their consumers dollars, Louis Vuitton chose artist Damien Hirst to create a project that define his art in celebration of the brands 150th anniversary. Two twin trunks designed to carry surgical instruments were created by Hirst, his inspiration was the film Dead Ringers by the great David Cronenberg. Certain to become an item for collectors, other collaborators for LV's anniversary project include celebrity chef Ferran Adrià, photographer Annie Leibovitz, musician Gustavo Santaolalla, fashion designer and Louis Vuitton’s creative director Marc Jacobs, and family heir Patrick-Louis Vuitton who all designed leather trunks and bags in line with the label’s aesthetics.

Olympia Le-Tan

Olympia Le-Tan describes her line of handbags as “beautiful boxes in which to store ones treasures in.” The written words were replaced with silk, and pretty colors of felt cover the top to create a stunning handbag. Ever since she was a child, her passion was to “find rare tomes to add to her ever- burgeoning vintage book collection.” Now with these precious pieces, she has created an unreal accessory to spice up any outfit.

JJ Hudson

JJ Hudson’s upcoming collection has given punk a whole new name. He sets no rules with his “fuck it all” style, making fashion more carefree by giving you the ability to mix and match patterns while still being trendy. His bold colors enable you to stand out in the crowd and make a statement, and his ability to layer interesting pieces are sure to create a unique look. Self-confidence is key when it comes to wearing items from this collection. “Originality implies being bold enough to go beyond accepted norms."

Hair Raising

VNFOLD - BLACK CELEBRATION from VNFOLD on Vimeo.

Hair and horns take center stage in this video from Vnfold Magazine shot by photographer and stylist Antonella Arismendi. The video's inspirational imagery and post production techniques are ones that I will be incorporating into future projects of my own. I'm not sure how I feel about wearing accessories made of hair but I am truly inspired by this video.

Marni

Marni is releasing their new jewelry collection next year, made mostly out of recycled tires! In this particular necklace, the tire bits are painted and jewels and feathers are added to make this piece fashion forward. This collection will add a whole new element to fashion, making recycling a cool new trend, which will result in a healthier environment. Marni has proven that your trash can be turned into a good- looking accessory. Life is too short to blend in.

Check out some of her other pieces:

Preen Line

Justin Thorton and Thea Bregazzi are not your typical fashion designers. With their graffiti patterns, ruffles and tight fit jeans, this duo has taken the eccentric look of runway to the streets. This specific piece from their upcoming Preen Line combines the funky style of rock n’ roll with the conventional, every day looks that can transform your daily appearance. The pants have a bit of an edge with different materials and patterns, while the shirt is simple, but still fun. “Style is an expression of individualism and charisma,” and with clothes like these, opportunities to be creative are limitless!
